ASSISTANT COOK

Hourly Pay: $19.00 to $21.00

Our team works to uncover the academic, social, and emotional potential of girls who have been held back by emotional and behavioral struggles. Sunrise incorporates Relational DBT into every aspect of the program and ensures that therapists and staff are trained to help girls practice these skills continually. 

  

The pay range for an Assistant Cook at Sunrise is $40,000 - $45,000 per year. Pay is depending on experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Head Chef in planning and preparing meals for students Monday through Friday, as well as providing food for any other events sponsored by Sunrise.
  • Follow directions/menus that are provided by Head Chef 
  • Assist the Head Chef with extra tasks as needed 
  • Lifting and putting away food orders, groceries and assisting with other shopping as needed 
  • Prepare properly cookedwell-balanced meals in a timely manner for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday 
  • Oversee the overall cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the kitchen 
  • Ability to work with other team members and students in a professional way 
  • Ability to cover head chef's duties as needed, including training new kitchen staff.
  • Ability to life up to 50 lbs, standing for 8 hours at a time and walking up and down stairs. 
  • Other duties as assigned by head chef

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of proper cooking technique
  • Knowledge of health codes and proper sanitation
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition
  • Skill in preparation of a variety of foods
  • Skill in food presentation
  • Ability to adapt to special dietary needs of the students
  • Ability to work within the designated budget
  • Minimum of two years of cooking experience required
  • Current Food Handlers Permit
  • Professional training in culinary arts is preferred
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Able to pass federal background check and drug screen
